The way you dry your stones is important to achieve the best quality and avoid mouldy stones
Store fresh collected stones in a container- make sure you do not put the lid on! As this traps the moisture inside. Place the container in the dark, too much light will turn the stones black
Avoid placing in hot areas, such as on top of a radiator, as this will cause the stones to crack and break as they will dry too fast
Slow drying at room temperature is best
The larger the stone is, the longer it will take to dry. You should weigh your stones every few days, record the weight, and when this stops decreasing, the stones are dry.
Minimum drying time for small grape size stones is 3 weeks, anything larger will need anywhere from 6-8 weeks
Its not always easy, and lots of the time stones go mouldy and break
